Do you drain the bacon grease before you add the other ingredients?

Hi there! No, you do not drain the bacon grease before adding the other ingredients in this recipe. Enjoy!

I don't think you are supposed to cook the spinach. You just pour the hot dressing over the top of the spinach, toss in a bowl and it wilts a little

Wouldn't that create a lot of splatter, liquids in hot bacon grease?

I partially froze then chopped the bacon before cooking it. I find it much easier.

I've had this years ago and lost the recipe my husband loved it. Thanks for posting this recipe thanks

My husband also LOVES this salad and it is very hard to find in restaurants. Glad I will be able to make it at home now. Due to medications I am unable to eat but I'm sure we'll have no problem getting rid of it.

I have been searching for this recipe for ages with no luck. Thanks a million!

Walnuts (candied if possible) and thinly sliced red onions make this an awesome spinach salad!

Hi kam, So glad to hear your whole family loved this salad! I bet you're right - the shaved parmesan would be delicious! Thanks for the idea.

Wow - One taste and my entire family was in love. Be sure, if at all possible, to use freshly grated black pepper. Adding some thinly-sliced (you could read a newspaper through it) red onion and buttered garlic croutons didn't hurt my family's feelings a bit. Next time I have to kill time before the entree, though, I think I'll take out the bacon before adding the liquids, and keep it until serving time, so I can crumble it over the top. (Hmm...I wonder how crumbling it with some shaved parmesan or bleu or feta cheese might add to the mix?)

This was an amazing salad!!!! I am so happy we made it , it was delicious!
