Quick, easy and only 5 ingredients - such a simple and yummy way to start off your meal.

What You'll Need

  • 1/4 pound cooked, unpeeled medium-size fresh shrimp (about 35 per pound)
  • 3/4 to 1 cup salsa
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 green onion, chopped

What to Do

  1. Peel shrimp, and devein, if desired; chop shrimp.

  2. Stir together salsa and cilantro. Place cream cheese on a serving plate; spoon salsa mixture over cream cheese. Top with shrimp, and sprinkle with green onion. Serve with tortilla chips.

Notes

Save yourself some time and effort, and buy cooked, peeled shrimp from the seafood department of your supermarket to make this elegant appetizer even easier. But if you want to save at the checkout, start with 1/3 pound raw shrimp in the shell and boil it yourself? 3 to 5 minutes in boiling salted water will do the trick.

We make something close to this, but we use a jar of cocktail sauce in place of the salsa. It is very good!
