Notes

Substitute cherry pie filling for blueberry for a different flavored dessert. And a sprinkling of chopped nuts on top gives this version a nice rich crunch.

So simple and yet so good!

We love this simple dessert

If you use a store bought cake mix it will be too much batter . You can always make a few cupcakes with the rest. Healthier than using TWINKIES. I am sure I will be making this. Looks so easy. And I LOVE easy!

What about using lady fingers?? Can you real whip cream?

Hi there! Yes, you can use lady fingers as well as whipped cream in this recipe. Enjoy!

I don't understand having twinkies cut in half on the bottom of the dish its just turns out to be a twinkie cake with already made blueberry pie filling which by the way you can make yourself and also the Twinkies You Can Make Them Yourself So Why Go Out And Buy Them ??? I Prefer my home made ONES INSTEAD THANKS FOR YOUR UNREAL VIRSION TO SHOW PEOPLE HOW TO MAKE SOMETHING WITH WAY TO MUCH SUGAR POSSIBLY TO MANY PRESERVETIVES IN IT 3 3

I suggest you don't make the dessert, since it does not please you.

Everyone just loved this. I have used cherry and peach pie filling. But my favorite is the bluebery.

this was good but I think I'll try it with white cake for the bottom.

I've used Yellow & White cake mixes on the bottom. Turned out delicious. I used a from scratch recipes from my favorite cookbook, so you can half the recipe & it's just enough, that way you don't waste any cake mix. Just bake & let cool completely before starting the recipe. You can get real creative & use all different kinds of cake mixes that way you really can make it your own recipe! Enjoy it this way, I know you will!!!!

Thank you for your idea of using cake mix instead of using cream filled snack cakes. Sounds far more appealing to me. I believe it will give a better dessert and be less expensive than using store bought snack cakes. I'm going to try this method and I will be using blueberries. I have some in the freezer. Easy to make a pie filling with them.

It took 9 cakes to fill the bottom not 8. Plus I used crushed heath bars instead of nuts to top it off.

Thank you for sharing your comments, we appreciate it!

thank you

blue berry oatmeal bars

I'm going to try it this weekend when we have company.

Little Debbie makes very good dessert cakes the Easter ones although they are white cake. They also have yellow cakes...I LOVE LITTLE DEBBIE CAKES!!!!!! yOyO

I love Little Debbie cakes, too :)

Twinkies are still around. The company was sold not destroyed.

Many of you have inquired about vanilla cream-filled snack cakes. One of the more common brands of this item is a Twinkie. However, there are a number of other brands on the market that are comparable to Twinkies. Just check the snack cake section of your local grocery store and I am sure you will find a wonderful substitution. Thank you all for your questions and comments!

WTH is a vanilla cream-filled snack cake, and could we use vanilla/white cake mix instead?

Use a Twinkie Cake

I would love to know what to use since Twinkies don't exist any more!

Is this a single layer cake?

I'm assuming the "snack cakes" are Twinkies....has anyone found a substitute now that there aren't anymore Twinkies?

"Little Debbie" makes a snack cake very similar to twinkies and is very good.

I have found some cakes called Cloud Cakes, they look like Twinkies.

Wal-Mart also sells their store brand (Great Value) cakes. They're usually with their honey buns, muffins, etc.

would little debbie cakes work?

Do you measure the powdered sugar before or after you sift it?

what do you mean by Vanilla cream filled snack cakes? Please let me know, this sounds GOOD!!

Twinkies

I have made this in the past but used coconut cream pudding for the filling and topped it at serving with toasted coconut. Always delicious!

Everyone should try this with lemon pie filling or chocolate pudding. It is delicious !!!!

I love this quick recipe and have made it with blueberry pie filling and also with the peach. The blueberry is our favorite. It goes fast at the church dinners no matter what flavor you make.

I think this would be so much better if you made your own cake and put on the bottom...why would anyone eat those things in the package? I can't even pronounce most of the ingredients listed on the package.....ewwwww

Twinkies are quite good to most people. We're not so highfalutin as you seem to be.

EWWWWW???? IF you don't want to use twinkies you can use slices of sponge cake can even make your own ,, it is up to you Recipes are meant as a GUIDE not written in stone.. MR Food's recipes are about convenience Fast Fun and DELICIOUS.Twinkies are sponge cake with cream filled centers

mean and taters...being healthy has nothing to do with "falutin', it has to do with being chosen to continue to live in the new world order.

New world order? Very scary! If healthy so important, why are you eating cake? Yikes!

I make almost the same thing, I use sponge cake broken up into a 9x13 pan. I mix vanilla pudding usually the night before so that it will be cold, spread it on the top of the cake, then the blueberries, cook whip. I sometimes sprinkle nuts on the top of the cool whip. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

wowo wow wow!
