What You'll Need

  • 3 pounds ground beef
  • 2 onions, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (28-ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

What to Do

  1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, saute beef, onions, green pepper, and garlic 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until beef is browned and broken up; drain off liquid. Stir in remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.

  2. Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Note

This is good!

Club soda?

i replaced the club soda with more beer.

Can I use a crock pot and what is the recommended cooking time & setting?

kenflancaster: did you use all the seasoning as listed? Seems like way too much spices to me. Is it kid friendly spices?

Yes, there are a lot of spices. But look at the volume. I believe that the spices will be diluted out. I can't handle things too spicy either. But this looks Ok.

;OOH IT'S SO GOOD!!"

Added red kidney beans and this was by far the best chili I've ever had! This is a keeper!

what is this. way to many ingredients. looks like yankee chili with beans and tomatoes again. i'll try it because of the comment from kenflancaster. i like things simple, but this ain't texas chili.

I made one addition to this recipe and we found this chili to be the best we have ever made. I added one 16 oz. can of S&W kidney beans to the recipe and they were delicious. Eveleen Lancaster
