I'm 68 and have never seen a white cabbage (all were green). Where can you get it? And can you substitute green?

Hi there! White and green cabbage are the same thing. Just don't use red! Hope this helps. :)

CABBAGE AND BACON LOVERS REJOICE!

This is a really interesting way to use cabbage...I wonder if the fritters could be baked as well as fried. As a kid, I remember how much I loved corned beef with cabbage when my mother made it...so I think adding it to this recipe is a great idea MotherMary, although I'm not sure how I feel about using the blue cheese. I'm not sure about the red cabbage dggdster, but I don't why it would be a problem.

Does anyone know if red cabbage can be subbed out for the green in this recipe? I've used all our green cabbage to make sauerkraut and have only the red left.

I love cabbage and with all the great reviews here, I just have to make this right away! It's like a potato pancake but better-for-you with cabbage. I don't have the best of luck with potato pancakes. They seem to be too raw, tasting the flour too much and they fall apart in the pan. So I'm hoping for better luck with these. I like the addition of fresh corn that one person mentioned here.

I watch the show from Colorado Springs. Instead of bacon, I used 1/3 can corned beef, also adding a touch of blue cheese and fresh basil. Instead of 1 egg, I used 3 egg yolks and water. I fried low with a lid on for almost 15 minutes. Dipped in OPA's greek yogurt dressing with a bit of horseradish added. Ooh, they were soo... good!

I was so sad and when I heard of Mr Food's passing a few years ago. I miss his shows. He used to have a daily spot on the news featuring a recipe and it was fantastic. And his enthusiasm was contagious. He was someone you truly believed loved to cook and eat.

the cabbage is tender-crisp and extra good. nice change...

A very different fritter, but also good. I tried it with corn added off the cob, very tasty.

Easy to make Very good

I made these twice..gave some to my neighbors..they loved them...you can't taste the cabbage..but they sure have a great flavor. The second time making them...I used ranch dressing for dipping. Sooooo yummy!!! Next time I'm going to use Zucchini...that should be good also.

I am trying eggplant for a variation. have a zucchini fritter recipe from Mr Food, also it is terrific,

I'm wondering if eggplant isn't too soft and mushy to substitute for the cabbage. However, when you make potato pancakes it works.

5 star

I tried these and we all liked them.A good and different way to eat cabbage.I think that zucchini and other veggies would work well with this recipe also.

I would like to know if these can be Baked instead of Fried.....and if so, at what Oven Temp. and for How Long should I bake them??

Unfortunately, these cabbage fritters cannot be baked.

OMG, so good, hot out of the pan with a little dollop of sour cream and now hours later cold left overs plain still delish!!

I made them for dinner and received thumbs "down" from my family for this dish.

I'm making these for dinner tonight. What is the sauce on top of the fritters?

We served ours with a dollop of sour cream and a few chopped chives. Enjoy!

Sounds good. Similar to zucchini fritters. Lightly salt and drain the shredded zucchini first. Good thing to do with large zucchini.

looks good

This is a great way to use up leftover coleslaw, instead of just shredded cabbage!

Looks good, but will try.

These were really delicious and made a great side for grilled chicken. Dipped in ranch dressing made them even more wonderful. Way to go, Aunt Nellie! This recipe is a keeper!
