Grab your favorite mug and blanket, 'cause our Old-Fashioned Hot Cocoa is gonna make you feel so cozy, you'll just wanna curl up in front of the TV, or with a good book! Don't the mini marshmallows look like little pillows?

What You'll Need

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups warm water
  • 8 cups whole milk
  • 48 mini marshmallows

What to Do

  1. In a large saucepan, combine cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Gradually stir in the water and simmer over low heat for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Gradually add the milk and heat, but do not allow mixture to boil.
  2. Remove from heat and serve in mugs, topped with mini marshmallows.

Note

You may substitute whole milk with skim milkĀ if you want to cut down on the fat in this drink. Use 3 cups of water and 4 cups skim milk. To make this cocoa drink even creamier, you can use 8 cups of half-and-half!

how do you substitute 1/2 1/2 for the milk (skim) I thought whole milk would be great

can i use any kind of milk?

Any kind of milk can be used for this hot cocoa, so be sure to use your favorite! :)

I was wondering about the serving size. I realize I can just cut recipe in half, but would it be okay to save some for later?

Yes, it's definitely okay to refrigerate for later! :) Enjoy

My grandkids loved this. MMMMMMM!

to make this drink even more delicious, after removing from heat, add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and whip until frothy.

NOT Splenda... STEVIA - plant based sweetener... splenda is CHEMICAL based>>>

you can also substitute half the sugar for splenda if you are a diabetic it still tastes great and not so hard on your sugar readings.
