Who knew that you could make a delicious crumble pie with plums? We were up for the challenge and came up with this fresh-tasting recipe that we like to call Plum Crumble Pie!

What You'll Need

  • 8 fresh plums, pitted and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup plus 1/3 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons butter

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Place plums and water in a large saucepan; boil, covered, 4 to 5 minutes. Add 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, and salt and cook about 5 minutes more or until thick and clear, stirring occasionally. Cool mixture, then pour into unbaked pie shell.
  3. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together remaining 1/3 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter; sprinkle evenly over the pie. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until crumbs are golden and plum filling is bubbly.

This Crumb Topping goes great with any fruit pie.

This is very good. My mother made plum pie when I was a kid, and we all liked it, but this was even better than hers.

I have so been looking for a recipe for plum anything but pie is terrific. This looks delicious and I will definitely be making it.
