The recipe is good however ranch drsg should have dill to taste like a real ranch . Omit basil it changes the flavor!! And use onion powder so u dont have a slight in smooth crunch .

Do you think dried parsley and basil would work ok in this recipe?

I can't believe how incredibly fresh this salad dressing is! I will never use bottled dressing again! This is creamy and smooth and not gluey with chemicals and stuff that Idon't know what it is.

My sympathy to the family and extended family of "Mr. Food". I just recently found this site so my condolences are a bit late. He was such a huge presence, he is truely missed!

Condolences can never be too late, we appreciate your kind words. Thank you so much.

Once again, all my sympathy to "Art's" Family and Friends. He will be missed more than words can express! "Mr. Food" has been mentioned often in this household, and I've shared many recipes from his site; everyone 'ohs and ahs' over what I've made! Makes one feel delighted to please family and company. This dressing and all the others I've tried from 'Mr. Food' has been "ooh so good"! So easy to prepare, and the taste is so fresh; doesn't cost so much to make your own and you know what you are making is "homemade"!!! Not a store bought brand with all the preservatives added. I recommend all your 'dressings' to everyone and I will use these over and over again. (When ya have the best, what do you need with the rest)?!!! Sincerely, 'little ole' Ohio cook,' Sherry 11/29/12

I agree! This dressing tastes so fresh! I didn't used to care for ranch dressing, but that's because I've only had the bottled kind. I haven't used buttermilk much in my cooking, but I'm sold on it now! I've tried other recipes besides this one that call for buttermilk, and it's so good, I don't know why it's not more widely used.
