What You'll Need

  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 (10-3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 (8-ounce) carton sour cream
  • Warm cooked egg noodles

What to Do

  1. Cook first 3 ingredients in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring until beef crumbles and is no longer pink; drain.
  2. Stir soup, salt, and paprika into beef mixture. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in sour cream; cook until thoroughly heated. (Do not boil.) Serve beef mixture over noodles.

Use more ground beef add some minced fresh garlic a beef bouillon cube and worcestershire sauce thin with milk or a little water for proper consistency

This recipe, after adding the soup, turned into the weirdest gray ball. After the addition of the sour cream, turned a gross white. I wanted so badly to get the brown color back.

I am so glad I found an easy stroganoff recipe. I am not sure about the bacon ingredient, but it does sound interesting. I love beef stroganoff served with a side dish of a vegetable like broccoli, and some bread and butter. This will make a great weeknight meal for my family.

Sounds good

I am some what lactose intolerant. what can I use instead of cream or sour cream? I have to have a good stomach in order to enjoy it. Robert D. Mowrey SSgt. USAF Ret.

Substitute sour cream or Greek yogurt for mayo.

Omit salt as the soup and bacon are salty, add other things as you like, this makes a recipe unique to you.

I've been making something like this for years. The bacon is unnecessary and even the wrong taste for this dish. Add some garlic and a splash or Worcestershire sauce and it will taste really authentic. About a tablespoon of red wine or even ketchup lends some richness.

How can I comment. The recipe won't stay on the screen long enough for me to even read it. let alone try it. This box keeps moving in and taking over.
