Two childhood favorites (and favorites of some adults I know) come together in one terrific snack. Be sure to keep the ingredients on hand for the after-school crowd.

What You'll Need

  • 1 (12-ounce) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/4 cups (5 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 3 frankfurters, sliced

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Separate biscuits, and press each into a 4-inch circle on lightly greased baking sheets.

  2. Combine mayonnaise and garlic powder; brush evenly over biscuit rounds. Sprinkle 3/4 cup cheese evenly over mayonnaise mixture, and top with frankfurter slices.

  3. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes; sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese, and bake 5 more minutes or until lightly browned and cheese melts. Serve immediately.

I see a lot of recipe using the refrigerated biscuit. I never knew just how versatile it could be. This hot dog pizza recipe surprisingly does sound like something I would eat. Instead of a tomato base it is a mayo base sauce so in essence you are eating a flat hot dog.

Well, hot dogs have come a long way and some of them are almost pretty tasty. My favorite brand is Nathan's. Now I don't need any gimmicks to get my kids to eat but I know they would enjoy these and helping make them. As a snack or as part of a full meal, these would be welcomed at my house.

Since I've never run across a recipe for turning canned biscuits into pizzas before, I thought I must be the only person to do so (since college, +30 yrs. ago). Sliced smoked sausage, onions, ...(the list of toppings is endless) allows a person to have a wide variety of small pizzas on hand for special events (like football). Try them, and enjoy!
