Krispy Kale Chips

Sure, we love potato chips, but every once in a while we need something a little healthier to snack on. That's when we make our Krispy Kale Chips. These crispy and salty chips are perfect for munching on, and because they're made from a nutritious veggie, we don't feel guilty eating a whole bunch of 'em!

What You'll Need

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1 bunch kale, cut into 3-inch pieces, dried well
  • 2 teaspoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

What to Do

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine oil, garlic powder, and salt. Add kale and toss until evenly coated. Place on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer (do not pile).
  3. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, or until crispy. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve.

I have seen kale chips in the store but I must admit I have never tried them before. On occasion the recipe we try at home never measures up to the store bought. This may be the opportunity for me to try to eat healthier and never know if my version is not better than the store bought.

Krispy kale chips are the perfect substitute for the potato chip. The recipe looks simple enough. I do not even think I have ever eaten kale unless it was in a green salad and I was not aware. Eating healthy is not a bad thing so this may be a good recipe to adopt to have to push a couple bags of chips out the door.

Made these this evening. Followed the recipe exactly and they came out burned to a crisp. Very disappointed!

Hi there! We're sorry that this recipe didn't turn out the way that you hoped. We asked Patty in the Test Kitchen what could have gone wrong. She said that sometimes ovens are calibrated differently. Her advice is to make sure you're baking at 350 degrees F and only bake for 15 minutes. We hope that you'll give this recipe another try and love it as much as we do!
