Hot Fudge Sundae Sandwiches are a perfect make-ahead dessert for those times when you're on the go. Fancy 'em up a bit to look like you fussed for hours.

What You'll Need

  • 1 (12- to 16-ounce) pound cake, cut into 12 slices
  • 1 (11.75-ounce) jar hot fudge sauce, warmed
  • 1 quart chocolate ice cream
  • 6 maraschino cherries (optional)

What to Do

  1. Place cake slices on a large rimmed baking sheet. Spread 2 teaspoons hot fudge topping on each slice.

  2. Run warm water around edge of ice cream container and place ice cream on its side on a cutting board. Slice into 6 even rounds, each about 1 inch thick.

  3. Place a slice of ice cream on each of 6 fudge-covered cake slices. Place remaining 6 cake slices over the ice cream, fudge-side down.

  4. Wrap individually in plastic wrap and freeze at least 2 hours before serving. To serve, unwrap sandwiches and place them on a serving plate; top with remaining warmed fudge sauce and cherries, if desired.

Makes 6 ice cream sundae sandwiches.
