Fresh Tomato Flatbread

Tomato Flatbread is popular on restaurant menus, and now you can make it at home! The key to this tomato flatbread recipe is to start with really good tomatoes. And we recommend topping it with fresh slivered basil, too. This easy flatbread recipe makes the perfect appetizer for a group, or a simple vegetarian lunch. What You'll Need
- 1 (8-ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 large tomato, thinly sliced
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
What to Do

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Coat a large rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray.

Unroll crescent roll dough and press seams together to form a complete crust. Place tomato and onion slices over crust.

In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients; mix well. Brush over sliced tomato, onion, and crust.
- Bake 17 to 20 minutes, or until golden. Cut into squares and serve.

This is a great idea for showcasing those peak season summer tomatoes! The ones in my garden aren't quite ready to be picked yet, but when my heirlooms are ripe i plan to make this recipe - with plenty of my fresh basil sprinkled on top when it is hot out of the oven! This would be awesome to serve alongside some grilled steaks or chicken at your next backyard bash!

I really enjoyed this and will make again and again. What I did differently was used Newman's Own olive oil and vinegar salad dressing instead of just plain olive oil. The dressing has garlic an parmaesan cheese as well as some spices. I added more garlic as I love garlic. and left off the pepper as i do not like it. I will make this about once a week especially in the summer. GOOD stuff Thanks Mr. Food!

I was so disappointed in this bread! If I had this at a restaurant,I would ask for a refund or a subtitute.I had a stew and thought this would be just what I needed with the meal.We ate it because it was on the table.My husband told me that I had wasted my time making this bread,it is very bland.I really think that any restaurant added something else on top.
