When boxed pudding just won't do, our homemade Very Banana Pudding scores with its fresh-tasting big banana flavor. They'll go crazy for it!

What You'll Need

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

What to Do

  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Add banana, egg yolks, and vanilla then place over medium-low heat and slowly whisk in milk until thoroughly combined. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, or until mixture comes to a boil and thickens, whisking continuously.

  2. Spoon into a serving bowl or individual dessert dishes and chill thoroughly; serve, or cover and chill until ready to serve.

Note

For an extra special banana-chocolate treat, mix in 1/2 cup (3 ounces) miniature chocolate chips after the pudding has cooled slightly.

When I tried this recipe, it was very nostalgic for me, bringing back a lot of fond memories. Banana cream pie was one of my favorite things as a child, and this pudding tastes like a banana cream pie in a cup! You could even serve in a big bowl as a party dip and set out some graham cracker sticks and an array of fresh fruits for dipping!

Too sweet, also it won't come to a boil in 3 to 5 minutes over medium low heat

Just made this pudding I substituted low fat chocolate milk for milk after I read about adding chocolate chips, it tasted pretty good warm now I have to wait for a few hours until it chills.

sounds yummy, can't wait to try this recipe....Ugh! Can't get my printer to work to print this up? >:/

try going to the side and clicking on the devices and go to print and then you can print it
