Beef and Sausage Chili

This easy chili recipe with ground beef and sausage will satisfy your heartiest eaters. Plus, not only does it taste great, we don't need to do much to it except stir; the stove top does most of the work.

What You'll Need:
  • 2 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 pounds Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cans (15-1/2 ounces each) dark red kidney beans, undrained
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
What To Do:
  1. In a soup pot, brown ground beef, sausage, onions, and garlic over high heat 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently.
  2. Add remaining ingredients; mix well and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Top with all your favorite chili toppings from shredded cheese to chopped onions and sliced jalapeno peppers. This is a perfect recipe to keep on hand in the slow cooker on those afternoons or evenings when everybody's coming home and eating at different times.

I have neever made this but i am on my way to the kitchen andm going to try it Ill let you know how it turns out Thank You as it really sounds good

Yuuuuuuuuuuummy! When I added the tomatoes I was a little concerned about the meat/sauce ratio, so I added some tomato paste w/some beef broth.... the tomatoes cook down but I did like it a little juicier to have something for the cornbread to sop up :) I added sliced jalapenos to the pot.... and let me tell you, YUUUUUUUUUMMY! Will never make another type of chilli again.

it's not a slow cooker recipe

I can't believe that someone hasn't already complained that "there are no slow cooker directions included" -- since this is included in a list of Slow Cooker recipes. So...if someone is thinking of complaining, don't! Use your common sense and experience with slow cookers to figure it out!

Does this recipe call for the Ground beef and Sausage not to be drained after it is cooked?

Cut in half for two. Added some chopped red pepper and half cup chunky salsa. Quick and easy. Sausage adds a little zing. Served with cornbread. Great dinner on fall night.

Sounds pretty tasty and eazy. Gonna use for my first Super Bowl Party. Next up...Cornbread!
