What're the easy market shortcuts to our melt-in-your-mouth Fresh Apple Crumb Bake? It's all about the convenience of a cake mix and pre-sliced apples, for a bakery-fresh finish!
What You'll Need:
- 2 (14-ounce) packages refrigerated apple slices (sweet or tart), about 8 cups
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 (18.25-ounce) package white cake mix
- 1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oatmeal
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter, melted
What To Do:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Place apples in baking dish; pour water over apples.
- In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, oatmeal, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter until ingredients are thoroughly blended; mixture will be crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
- Bake 50 to 55 minutes.

This is a terrific, easy dessert. I cut the recipe in 1/2 for two people and it makes an 8"X8" dessert. I also use fresh apples.

I would think so as the apple slices are fresh just pre cut. I am too cheap to pay the extra cost so will slice my own and let you know how it turns out

I use the Apple pie fillings and all you do is use those and do not add the water called for in the recipe.

Just made the Apple Bake and it is wonderful. Also, a scoop of ice cream goes with it very nicely. This is a keeper.

How do you find a cake mix with 18.25 ounces. They are all fewer ounces now.

It probably doesn't matter if it isn't exactly 18.25 ounces. It's only used as a topping so you would just be a little short. If it's like any other toppings it's probably going to be more than you really need anyway. If you're really concerned you could always add a little extra oatmeal.

Sounds great. I'll bet you could use a spice cake mix and it would be really good with extra spices. Just an idea.

Herb Crusted Lamb with Mint Sauce
Instead of cooking ham or prime rib for Easter, why not try something new this year? Our Herb-Crusted Lamb with Mint Sauce may look and sound fancy, but it's really easy to do. It's basically a rack of lamb that's coated with herbs and spices before it's roasted to perfection. Just before serving, it's finished off with a mint-wine reduction. The end result is an Easter-worthy main dish that'll impress everyone at the table.
