Santa's Creamy Christmas Treat is the perfect combination of refreshing and sweet! The big man in red knew what he was doing when he made this! Easy to assemble, this dessert recipes is filled with gooey brownies and homemade whipped cream! Top it off with a bright burst of crushed peppermint, and you can't go wrong.

What You'll Need

  • 1 (18.3-ounce) package fudge brownie mix, batter prepared according to package directions
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  •  
  • WHIPPED CREAM
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 cup crushed candy canes

What to Do

  1. Bake brownies according to package directions. Cool completely, then cut into 1/2-inch chunks.
  2. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan over low heat, combine chocolate chips and butter.  Heat until chips are melted, stirring occasionally. Stir in 1-1/4 cups heavy cream, granulated sugar and corn syrup; increase heat to medium and heat until mixture comes to low boil. Continue to boil gently 8 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat, stir in 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract. Let cool to room temperature (mixture will thicken as it cools).
  3. To make the Whipped Cream, in a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat 2 cups heavy cream, confectioners’ sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract until stiff peaks form.
  4. In individual serving glasses, evenly layer brownie chunks, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and candy cane pieces. Repeat layers. Serve immediately.
