What You'll Need

  • 1 pound ground pork or veal
  • 2 teaspoons ground sage
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

What to Do

  1. In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients except the oil; mix well. Form the mixture into eight equal-sized patties.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and pan-fry the patties for 6 to 8 minutes, or until no pink remains.

Test Kitchen Tips

The great thing about making your own sausages is that you can shape them any way you like. Maybe try some links or, if it's a special day, get out the cookie cutters and shape this into hearts.

This homemade breakfast sausage recipe will pair perfectly with our Amaretto French Toast, our fluffy and yummy Banana Pancakes with Golden Banana Syrup, or these too-sweet-too-resist Belgian Berry Waffles! It's a side that works again and again!

Serving a large group? Try our All-in-One French Toast Bake, All-in-One Sheet Pan Eggs, or our All-in-One Breakfast for some one-pan favorites, that really cut down on the mess!
